Why do today what you can put off 'til tomorrow?
That’s a great question and one that is often embraced by procrastinators like me. Although there are many legitimate reasons for putting something off (e.g. lack of time, energy, or other resources), there usually comes a point where doing so can be unproductive, limiting, or even detrimental. The important thing is to recognize when you’ve reached that point. Here are some examples of tasks that should be done before it’s too late:
Filling your gas tank
Replacing your roof
Taking the garbage out
Wishing a loved one Happy Birthday
Paying a bill
Filing your tax return
Fulfilling a promise to a child or other loved one
Saying you’re sorry
Now is also the time to move forward with actions that can help you thrive. Here are some examples of those:
Making that sales call
Asking for a raise or a promotion
Changing careers
Starting a business
Working on your business instead of in it
Proposing to the love of your life
I know it is often hard to find the energy (or courage) to tackle high-priority tasks, but it won't get any easier. Find that courage. Find that energy. Take that action now!
You’ll be glad you did!
